Categoria: GREEN PARKS AND AREAS
Serra Cerrosa is located about 930 m above sea level and is the highest point of the municipality of Fardella, if we exclude the municipal areas on the Pollino massif. From the viewpoint of the Belvedere, which slopes gently towards the Sinni, you can see the clay pyramids along the river bed, the whole valley, but especially Serra Dolce Dorme, Monte Pollino and Serra del Prete, the three highest peaks of the Pollino massif.
Walking along Serra Cerrosa, it will not be difficult to find and taste wild strawberries (Fragaria vesta), blackberries (Rubus ulmifolius), pick porcini mushrooms (Bolentus edulis-aereus-aestivalis-pinophilus), eggs (Amanita caesarea), recognize a black hornbeam (Ostrtya carpinifolia), a turkey oak (Quercus cerris), the fennel (Quercus frainetto), a maple (Acer campestre) and with a careful eye you can see here too real rarities such as: the Greater Cephalantera (Cephalanthera longifolia), a small herbaceous and perennial plant with the spike-like inflorescence with white flowers, the Bird's nest (Neottia nidus-avis), whose flowers are united in a thick terminal spike, the reddish Succiamele (Orobanche gracilis), with spike or raceme shaped inflorescences - all three belonging to the family of Orobanchaceae, or even the Lesser Broom (Genista tinctoria), besides the fragrant one (Spartium junceum) typical of the Mediterranean maquis, the Juniper (Ruscus aculeantus), some Chestnut (Castanea sativa) and Eastern Hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis).
